THE VENEERS PROCESS
The veneers procedure typically takes two visits from start to finish. Dr. Lim begins the process with a consultation and will discuss with you what you hope to achieve with your smile, and whether veneers are the right choice for you.
Once a smile plan is in place, our team prepares the surface of the teeth for veneers by lightly buffing and shaping them. Then, we’ll create a mold or impression of each tooth, and consult with you to choose the best shade for your new veneers.
The impressions are sent to a lab, which crafts your customized veneer. When the veneers are ready, the teeth are cleansed and prepared with special liquids for a smooth finish. The veneers are then permanently bonded to the teeth with a special bonding cement. Veneers become the permanent surface of your tooth, and with proper care, can easily last for decades.
CARING FOR YOUR VENEERS
Taking good care of your veneers is a simple task and is in many ways no different from caring from your natural teeth. Keep your veneers clean and plaque-free with regular brushing and flossing. As with your other teeth, it is important to brush veneers gently.
Veneers may be more prone to discoloration than natural tooth enamel. As such, it is advised to limit foods and beverages known to stain teeth, such as coffee, tea, tomato sauce and dark berries. You will also need to keep your regular dental visits to have the veneers cleaned and make sure they stay in good condition.
